Solid Waste

what do we do?

Solid Waste services are responsible for managing the collection, transportation, processing, and disposal of solid waste in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner. Proper solid waste collection is essential for maintaining public health, environmental quality, and urban cleanliness within Lafourche Parish.

Solid Waste operates and manages recycling as well, helping to divert waste from landfills and reduce environmental impact. Beyond physical waste handling, they are tasked with managing landfills, overseeing waste-to-energy operations, all while in compliance with environmental regulations.

Garbage Holiday Pickups: Garbage collections are suspended/canceled on New Year’s Day, Mardi Gras Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day only. Normal service will resume the next scheduled collection day following the holiday.
