BOAT LAUNCH CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT: The Theogene Boat Launch in Leeville will be closed October 1st – 3rd & October 8th – 10th for phase 2 of the oyster reef construction. In 2025, LPG partnered with CRCL, NFL Green, Force Blue, Chefs Brigade and other groups to construct an oyster reef and complete a planting at the boat launch. The oyster reef helps to reduce the daily wave action, holds sediment behind it, and provides habitat for wildlife. It is also built to allow water to flow over during high tide, which helps with sediment deposition. The calmer water behind the oyster reef helps the sediment settle and helps stabilize the shoreline. It’s also a great way to recycle our local industry resources. The oyster reef is constructed with oyster shells donated by local fishermen and restaurants. Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) will be constructing phase 2 of the oyster reef at the launch in October.
The closure of the boat launch during the events is to accommodate all restoration equipment and for the safety of staff and volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to help construct the project, you can reach out to CRCL at
We are thankful to CRCL for helping us with coastal restoration efforts here in Lafourche! We look forward to continuing to work together in the future!
