Lafourche Parish Councilmember Aaron “Bo” Melvin, District 4, presented a proclamation commemorating the 123rd anniversary of Bell Baptist Church, which will be celebrated on October 5, 2025. In 1902, the Reverend D. S. Robinson along with a group of faithful followers decided a meeting place of worship and praises to the Lord was needed. As a result, the construction of Bell Baptist Church in Raceland, Louisiana began. The church’s founders and subsequent generations of congregants have devoted themselves to spiritual growth, community outreach and faithful service. Over the years Bell Baptist Church has had several Pastors and went through many transitions, however, Bell Baptist Church remained steadfast and unmovable and continued to abound in the work of the Lord. Countless achievements of the church are hosting food, and clothing giveaways, hosting community feedings, school supply giveaways, hosting mentoring events, hosting gatherings for the oppressed/depressed. They also offer a Church library, food bank and co-partnering with a homeless shelter and co-partnering with an organization to feed the homeless in the Tri Parish area. We give pause, honor and praise this day for the deep and abiding commitment of those who in faith began this work, and for all those who have given so unselfishly during these many years to help the work grow and thrive, and provide valuable human services where the need was great.
Lafourche Parish Council hereby recognize and honor with this proclamation, the 123rd anniversary of Bell Baptist Church, Raceland, Louisiana.
