Parish President Mitch Orgeron and our local emergency response partners are monitoring the Natural Gas Wellhead release in Golden Meadow. Federal and state agencies continue their coordinated response to the Oct. 31 natural gas wellhead release. Response crews are actively working to shut off the wellhead and secure the release; however, the wellhead has not been secured at this time. Operations are expected to continue through tomorrow and into Monday.
Currently, there is no indication of any risk to the community of Golden Meadow.
Personnel from the U.S. Coast Guard, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy, and Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality remain on scene and continue to coordinate joint response operations.
