SANDBAGS: The below sandbag locations will be opening today at 10 AM and will stay open until further notice. For self-fill sites, please bring your own shovel. The elderly and disabled will be able to pick up 25 prefilled bags per address at our Field Offices only. Sandbags will not be delivered.

Parish President Mitch Orgeron, Lafourche Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, and DPW are actively monitoring the weather situation. We encourage residents to stay #weatheraware over the next few days.

From US National Weather Service New Orleans Louisiana: This is a stay weather aware week. Biggest threat is heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding, but we will also have some issues with coastal flooding, hazardous marine conditions and isolated severe weather. Keep an eye on the latest forecasts.

The Lafourche Parish Health Unit supports families from pregnancy through early childhood.

In 2025, the Health Unit provided more than 22,000 WIC visits, helping mothers and young children access nutrition support, healthy foods, infant formula, breastfeeding resources, and education.

The Health Unit also provides pregnancy testing, immunizations, well-woman exams, family planning services, and home visits for new mothers and babies.

Healthy families are the foundation of a healthy community.

Early voting continues this week until June 20, excluding Friday, June 19.

Election Day is Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Lafourche Parish Outstanding Citizen Award June 9, 2026

During the June 9th Parish Council meeting, Kate Rodrigue and Liam Dubois were awarded the Lafourche Parish Outstanding Citizen Award!

Kate Rodrigue: Over the Spring Break holiday, Kate was watching several children when one of the children went into the pool and became unresponsive. Because of the knowledge and training she had received through the Blue Boot Foundation, Kate immediately sprang into action and began lifesaving measures.

Thanks to her quick response, calm thinking, and willingness to act in an emergency, she was able to save the little girl’s life. Kate’s actions are a true example of courage, selflessness, and what it means to be an outstanding citizen. She did not hesitate when someone needed help, and because of her heroic actions, a family still has their little girl today.

Liam Dubois: During the same pool incident, Liam immediately assisted Kate in pulling the child out of the pool. His quick thinking and helpfulness also saved a life that day.

Recreation Builds Stronger Communities

In 2025, recreation districts across Lafourche Parish hosted an estimated 5,000+ activities, including practices, games, tournaments, classes, camps, clubs, fitness programs, and community events.

From youth baseball and soccer to pickleball, line dancing, book clubs, arts and crafts, and senior activities, recreation provides opportunities for residents of all ages to stay active and connected.

The Recreation Millage helps support the facilities, fields, gyms, and community centers that make these programs possible throughout Lafourche Parish.
