Capital & Other Projects 2005-2006
- Council Chamber (Barrios Center, Raceland)
The Lafourche Parish Council Chamber has been completely renovated. The room was enlarged over 1200 sq. ft. and reconfigured to provide more space for people to sit in the meeting room. We have also added presentation and video-conferencing equipment, including 2 plasma TVs, 2 HDTV’s, a multi-media presentation computer, etc. We have also renovated the Council Desk, adding docking stations with network access for laptop computers.
- Historic Courthouse (Downtown Thibodaux)
In 2005, the entire roof was repaired and restored. In the spring of 2006, the Historic Courthouse will undergo a major renovation with the waterproofing and sealing of the exterior. This will include a new paint job across the entire exterior of the building. Some minor interior work will also be performed.
- Walking Trails, Basketball Courts and Pavilions
- Chackbay - Walking trail behind the Senior Center
- Thibodaux - Basketball court and shade structures at Abby Plantation Subdivision
- Thibodaux - Basketball court and shade structures at Marydale Subdivision
- Bayou Blue - New shade structures and improvements to existing half-mile walking track
- Martin Luther King Park (Thibodaux)
Currently, the bathroom facilities at MLK Park are only open during the day and in poor condition. We will be constructing new bathroom facilities at the opposite end of the park. We hope to have them in place in time for summer.
- Baseball Field Improvements
Various Improvements will be made to the baseball fields and their accompanying structures in Bayou Blue and at Hero’s Park in Thibodaux.
