Note From The President:
Hurricane Gustav knocked out many trees and power lines while Hurricane Ike brought in water at various areas of the parish, but Lafourche Parish residents
stood strong. The residents of Lafourche are the greatest people and storms will only bring us closer together, lending a hand to our neighbor in need.
I have seen so many good things going on during the recovery and I want to thank our residents for their South Louisiana spirit and heart!
I also want to thank our employees. Field office workers worked through the night to protect the residents from the waters of Ike.
Other employees of the parish worked at the Emergency Operations Center by staffing phones and doing any task assigned.
Department heads worked diligently. Our building operations center lost its roof during Gustav which caused over a dozen departments to be relocated between
storms. This was very stressful, but they endured. Thank you all for your hard work and patience during this trying time.
Municipalities worked together with the parish to show a unified support structure. Thibodaux Regional offered acute care services;
Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s office, augmented by National Guard, protected your homes and property; State Police directed you regarding highway accessibility.
It was a team effort and while we may have lost a battle or so with water or roof destruction, WE WON THE WAR!
Lafourche Parish Stands Strong and Proud
Thank you, Lafourche residents, for being the great people you are!
