LA 20 Widening project to begin on Jan. 4, 2016. Contractors working for DOTD will begin construction of the LA 20 (North Canal Blvd.) Widening project on January 4, 2016. This $9.9 million dollar project will widen LA 20 to 4 lanes from LA 308 to St. Patrick Street. The project also includes drainage work, complete asphalt overlay, and installation of new traffic signals, and is scheduled to be completed in mid-September, 2016.

Lafourche Parish Water District’s boil water advisory can be lifted for all customers between Tiger Dr. (in Thibodaux) and the Assumption Parish Line. All customers in the affected area can resume normal water consumption at this time.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY: The Lafourche Parish Water District experienced a drop in water pressure in the North Lafourche area due to a mainline leak. Because of this, the water from Tiger Dr. (in Thibodaux) to the Assumption Parish Line is of questionable microbiological quality. Therefore, as a precaution, the Lafourche Parish Water District is issuing a BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately for all customers between Tiger Dr. and the Assumption Parish Line. This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the District.

Lafourche Parish Government announces the closure of all Parish offices on Thursday, November 26th for Thanksgiving. No garbage service will be available on the holiday. The regular routes will resume on Friday, November 27th.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flash Flood Watch for this evening. Parish Officials urge all residents to clear debris from drainage ditches and catch basins to allow water to drain properly. Strong winds and isolated tornadoes are also expected.

Lafourche Parish Government has secured a grant for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) related to FEMA DR-1603-LA and is seeking a consultant for engineering services. Lafourche Parish Government is accepting Requests for Qualifications from qualified engineering firms to provide professional engineering for specific work on its FEMA DR-1603 Hazard Mitigation Grant for the Parishwide Pump Station Project – Phase II.

Lafourche Parish Public Works announces the Cote Blanche Bridge near Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off will be closed to vehicular traffic tomorrow, October 28, 2015 from 8am to 3pm to allow an electrical contractor to replace a transfer switch and install a backup generator. Additionally, the Galliano Pontoon Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 8am to 3pm to allow an electrical contractor replace a transfer switch and install a back up generator.

Lafourche Parish Government announces LA Highway 1 will close at 5pm south of the Leon Theriot Lock in Golden due to rising tides. National Weather Service is calling for an additional half foot of rise in the tide which will again make the road impassable. Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Harbor Police and State Police will maintain traffic control during the night time hours.
