Parish President James Cantrelle announced that the Executive Director for the Office of Community Action has been terminated for cause effective July 10th, 2018, due to findings from an audit initiated by complaints sent to the Executive Branch of Lafourche Parish Government.

The Lafourche Parish Water District press release serves as a notice that Terrebonne Consolidated Waterworks has confirmed the presence of the Naegleria fowleri amoeba in Pointe-aux-Chenes, ACR #160 4260 Highway 665. They are conducting a 60-day free chlorine treatment to ensure amoeba elimination.

The Lafourche Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is continuing to monitor Subtropical Storm Alberto. Residents can plan for effects of Alberto late Sunday through Tuesday morning (near tropical storm force (39 mph) winds and possible heavy rainfall at times).

Subtropical Storm Alberto has formed in the extreme northwestern Caribbean Sea. Please stay tuned for further updates. In addition, a flash flood watch is now in effect for a large part of our forecast area including New Orleans, Baton Rouge and coastal Mississippi.
