Parish President Cantrelle has confirmed that there is NOT a levee breach in Cut Off. Lafourche Parish Government officials will notify residents in the event conditions are un-safe, but that is not the case. There is NOT a levee breach, and residents are protected by the levee system in place.

As Tropical Storm Barry approaches, the Lafourche Parish curfew remains in effect until 8:00 A.M.; however, Parish President Jimmy Cantrelle urges residents to stay off of the roads, if at all possible. We anticipate strong wind gusts to continue and heavy rains to begin today.

As Tropical Storm Barry approaches, residents who choose to seek shelter can bring their pets. Pets will need a crate or carrier; as well as, food and water for three days.

At 8:30 P.M., the Galliano Pontoon Bridge and the Cote Blanche Pontoon Bridge will be CLOSED to vehicular traffic. All other bridges remain open to vehicular traffic.

The Bayou Blue Pontoon Bridge on LA 316 crossing the Intracoastal Canal Waterway in Bayou Blue, LA will be closed to vehicular traffic until further notice due to a vessel hit that damaged the west cable sheave and platform. These are vital components in the operation of the bridge.

LA 316, from its intersection at LA 182 to Linda Street, will be closed to vehicle traffic in both directions from 6:00 a.m. on Saturday June 29, 2019 until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday June 30, 2019.

This is to inform you that the Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory has confirmed one of our mosquito samples positive for West Nile Encephalitis (WNV). Said sample was collected in the Lockport area of Lafourche Parish (Zone L8) on June 18th.
