Fitness made fun... for everyone!

What is Lafourche on the Move?

Lafourche on the Move is a parish-wide initiative launched in 2004 to help promote physical activity, improved nutrition, and better overall health for all Lafourche Parish citizens. We kicked off the initiative with a party and "fitness carnival" in October 2004 followed by nine (9) "follow-up events" over the next 12 months all over the parish. Through these events, we signed up people up for the program taking their weight and measurements, and we introduced exercise and health tips at each event.

Over the following years, many Senior Citizens Centers continued the Lafourche on the Move efforts through organized exercise classes. This initiative has led to so many stories of health and recovery especially from within our senior community. We are extremely happy to know that so many citizens turned their health and lives around through this initiative. Some of those exercise classes continue today around the parish.

Grab your friends and loved ones and get moving! You can start by visiting any of our walking tracks around the parish, or you can simply increase your regular daily activity such as sweeping your house or washing your car. Any activity counts, so get up, get out and help get Lafourche on the move!
