Mathews, LA –Lafourche Parish has been under a Winter Storm Warning for the last 48 hours. That warning has been lifted. Lafourche Parish does remain under a Hard Freeze Warning as temperatures dip below freezing tonight. Roads and bridges have been cleared and most surface ice has melted.

Be advised of the following updates:

• There will be NO curfew tonight.

• Lafourche Parish Government offices will be open tomorrow for normal business hours.

• Lafourche Parish garbage collection will resume tomorrow.

• Lafourche Parish Schools, including Nicholls University will be open.

The following remain CLOSED until determined safe for vehicular traffic.

• Valentine Bridge

• Elevated Portion of LA 1 From Leeville to Hwy 3090

The Harbor Police are reporting that the elevated portion on Hwy 1 has approximately 1/2 inch of ice. They don't expect the road to open today.

We ask that you prepare your home for these continued freezing temperatures:

• Remember to bring your pets inside.

• Pipes need to be wrapped to avoid freezing.

• Bring in plants and cover them for protection from the drop in temperature.

• Make sure to keep all flammable objects from open flame heaters.

Please check the Lafourche Parish website and Facebook pages for road and bridge closures throughout this winter event.
