President Jimmy Cantrelle continues to invest in North, Central and South Lafourche as promised.  For Thibodaux residents, Abby Road is a highly traveled thoroughfare that has needed attention for quite some time.  Councilman Gros, District 3, and Councilman Jones, District 1, have petitioned President Cantrelle to move forward with the Abby Road Overlay Project for the safety and welfare of area citizens.  President Jimmy Cantrelle noted that the Council, a near unanimous vote with only Mrs. Sposito opposing, put forth a Resolution in August of 2017 which identified approximately $1 million dollars for design and construction.  “The timing is right to get started.  We have been persistent in our efforts to improve roads, drainage and recreation throughout the Parish,” said President Cantrelle.

The list of projects remains at the forefront of discussions between the Administration and Council with the approaching 2018 budget season.  Requests for additional recreation programs, especially in North Lafourche, have been heard.  President Cantrelle has issued the notice to proceed for the Hero’s Park Expansion Project to Duplantis Design Group for engineering services.  The long-term intent is to develop the facilities to attract leagues, host tournaments and cultivate youth programs.  In addition to organized sports, outdoor sportsmen will see improvements to the Larose and Lockport boat launches under the design of All South Engineers.

Looking ahead, projects valued at another $4 million dollars will soon go out to bid.  Multiple Districts with road and drainage issues will benefit.  “The fact that the Council and Administration are cooperating more, definitely helps with getting projects done,” said Parish Administrator Tommy Lasseigne.  “Mr. Lasseigne's expertise drives momentum since he understands how to maneuver through government bureaucracy,” said Cantrelle.
