Currently, all of Lafourche Parish has an enhanced risk of severe storms expected to move through during the morning hours on Saturday. Rainfall could measure between 2-3 inches with localized spots possibly receiving more.
While individual storm cells can and will cause pockets of heavy rain, the main danger with this late season cold front is a strong squall line expected to form out in front of it. This squall line has the potential to produce all forms of severe weather including:high winds, hail, and possible tornadic activity.
Following the passage of this front later on Saturday, conditions will turn much cooler with high temperatures expected to stay in the low 60s Sunday, April15, with strong north winds. Overnight lows on Sunday and Monday nights could possibly reach thelow 40s in the northern parts of the parish with mid-to-upper 40s possible in the central to southern reaches of the parish.
Local residents are urged to pay close attention to weather updates and take the necessary precautions to keep themselves and their families safe for the duration of this event.
The best advice is to keep travel to an absolute minimum and exercise good judgment if you must get on the road at times when storms are either affecting or about to move in to your area.
