Post Date:07/14/2016 4:41 PM

Lafourche Parish Government’s Office of Community Action will begin offering vouchers for school uniforms to qualified families beginning Monday, July 18, 2016 according to parish officials.

According to Executive Director of Community Action Freddia Ruffin-Roberson

The voucher program will be provide each qualifying school-age child in the household with a $60.00 voucher for youth sizes  and $100.00 voucher for adult-sized youths from Lafourche Parish Office of Community Action to redeem at one of the two area stores:  Jake’s Kids in Thibodaux or Jakes in Houma.  Vouchers must be issued by the Lafourche Parish Office of Community Action before visiting any of these stores.

Jakes Kids have agreed to deliver uniforms to the Galliano office once approved by Community Action.  Clients must state the sizes on their application in order for delivery.  Please make sure that you provide the correct sizes for your children. Once delivered it will be your responsibility to exchange for sizes.  Delivery will only be once through Community Action.

The program will also enable eligible post-secondary students at local universities, technical colleges and training institutions to also obtain their educational goal by providing uniforms – like medical scrubs – with these vouchers as well.
