PARISH PRESIDENT WELCOMES PARISH SUMMER WORKERS

Mathews, LA – Lafourche Parish President Jimmy Cantrelle on Monday welcomed over two dozen youth who will be participating in the parish’s summer youth employment program. The program, which runs from June 6 thru July 29, will have individuals working in numerous departments of parish government including recreation, the animal shelter and various field offices.

Cantrelle urged the young people, between the ages of 16 and 24, to work hard and always try their best. “This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn valuable skills and see how the workplace operates. I hope you take this opportunity and do your best, regardless of what department you will be working in. Always strive to do your best because your job is important.
Be safe, be courteous to others and try to always keep an open mind to learn new things. These are all things that will serve you well in the future,” he said.

The program is administered through the Department of Community Action and funded through Community Service Block Grants. The students begin with a two day orientation process at the Mathews government complex.
