Bayou Job Fair
On Friday, June 10th, Lafourche Parish Government together with the other Bayou parishes and partnering agencies will host a Job Fair to help benefit those Bayou residents that have lost their job due to the downturn in the oil and gas industry. In doing so, we hope to re-employ these individuals with jobs that are at least in driving distance of the Bayou region. Notably, the Baton Rouge, River region and New Orleans area are offering employment opportunities in areas not affected by the oil and gas industry.
Since Lafouche is one of those parishes significantly affected by the oil field downturn, I ask that you please (if possible) circulate the attached flier to the citizens in your district. There a link (bayouopportunity.com) that anyone can go to and register to attend. SLEC is conducting a publicity campaign through our local media outlets but want to make sure we especially reach those who are unemployed.
It is humbling to think of some of our people sitting at home right now with their families with no job, mounting bills and with no prospect for employment locally anytime soon, especially going into a holiday weekend. So thanks to any of you who can help get the word out.
