The Lafourche Parish Government Department of Planning & Permitting is committed to providing Lafourche Parish residents with the best service possible to make transitioning to an existing or new home or business location as smooth as possible. Our ultimate goal in this department is to protect the public during their time of development and construction of new structures as well as repairing or remodeling of existing structures to ensure their projects meet all codes and standards.

The Planning Office, managed by Mrs. Pat Matherne, assists landowners and developers with subdivisions. She will help guide you through the processes involved in dividing your property for as smooth a transition as possible.

The staff in our Permit Office, managed by Mrs. Deborah Moore, will assist you in getting the right permits filed for any situation. Our Permit Office features six Certified Permit Technicians that are ready to assist you. In fact, Lafourche Parish has 6 of the 34 total certified Permit Technicians in the entire State of Louisiana. Our Inspectors and Plan Reviewers are fully trained and have all of their ICC - International Code Council Certifications.
